Health Innovation Alliance

Building A Provider, University, Industry Alliance

One very exciting alliance is noted on HealthAndInnovation.org.

HealthAndInnovation.org

The source for education and innovation information emerging from collaborations developing solutions to health related challenges.

HealthAndInnovation.org is the information source regarding emerging collaborations started with New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) leaders to bring together health, university, industry and other innovators to develop solutions to health related challenges.

Collaborations open through meetings, panel, group and individual discussions often starting with healthcare leaders sharing with students and supporting faculty, their perspectives regarding specific state of the art practices, a vision of where to focus innovation resources. Often, this opens a potential dialog for future collaboration.

The 2014 Innovation Collaboration Leader at NJIT is Atam P. Dhawan, Ph.D., Distinguished Professor of Electrical & Computer Engineering and Interim Dean of Albert Dorman Honors College at NJIT where he serves as the Executive Director of the Interdisciplinary Design Studio.

Regarding building the Alliance of providers and others, insights into the building process have emerged from talking with Cleveland Clinic (CC) Innovation team leader Chris Coburn (now at Partners Healthcare) and others about their national Healthcare Innovation Alliance (HIA). The HIA lead by Cleveland Clinic is a centralized approach to intellectual property development for members of the alliance with IP experts in place at member institutions as needed.

A number of the NJ providers, universities, and industry groups have worked with counter parts in NYC. We can learn from the success they have achieved working together through efforts such as NYC Tech Connect which has been in a collaboration with 11 of NYC's premier institutions.
