Innovation Labs

Innovation 101 SESSIONS: Introduction to translating ideas into innovations.

These 30-60 minute sessions are designed to encourage innovative thinking in part by providing general background defining parts of the innovation process including: Ideas, concepts, inventions, proof-of-concept, patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, first mover advantage, co-inventors, authors and inventors, collaborations, crowdfunding, venture funding, grant funding.

NOTE: Companies which are innovation leaders play a key role as part of an alliance to add focus and be potential sources of a number of types of funding illustrated in the methods outlined here.

Method 1. Healthcare Professional Insights Sessions

These are either proactive or responsive sessions with healthcare professionals discussing and identifying opportunities for improvements in products, education and services within the participants' specialty. Each group is lead by an innovation monitor.

The groups raise issues and may suggest solutions. They may also request to be paired with an engineering person at a university to discuss their ideas. Session sponsors may propose topics for discussion.

Method 2. Healthcare Professional-University Challenge Sourcing

This method involves posting or sending questions to engineering students and others seeking insights into ways to improve patient education, services and other issues. This approach includes crowd sourcing solutions and opportunities to leverage summarization technologies and other Natural Language Programming (NLP) methods. While novel insights are not guaranteed this posting system also serves to build relationships between healthcare providers and universities.

Method 3. Apps

To meet the demand for apps for professionals and individuals to access, capture and use health information an open collaboration will be explored for the definition, creation and utilization of apps.

Method 4. Product-Service Utilization Tracking Profiles from one or more hospitals. 

Computers runs would be reduced to summaries with insights. Summaries maybe published and made available to sponsors and others.
